![]() Hi Luke this is my take on what you’ve just watched. I'm incredibly impressed with her art and her music. It's a gruesome story in such short lyrics. He tells her “Don’t get me wrong, it’s hurting me much more than it’s hurting you” (mucho más a mí me duele de lo que te está doliendo, conmigo no te equivoques) while he’s beating the living crap out of her “with the back of my hand I’ll make it clear to you” (con el revés de la mano, yo te lo dejo bien claro), and then he implies that he can make her life a living hell “I’ll sell you bitter sorrows” (amargas penas te vendo), but he can also be quite a great guy “but I also have some candy” (caramelos también tengo). He first tells her “I’ve been so good to you” (Yo que tanto te camelo), but she doesn’t do what he wants so she’s forcing him to be violent, and he’ll never let her go “You’re not going anywhere “ (Que tú de aquí no sales). This is the husband making her feel like it’s all her fault, that she deserves the violence. ![]() ![]() It's the perfect representation of the abusive partner discourse. ![]()
